With the nose, dogs can process a lot of information, including learning about other’s poop. When they smell other dog’s poop, they can learn the emotional state, health status, diet, and age of a dog.
Maybe, farts contain information that the dog needs. I wonder what my dogs know about me from my farts. Maybe, they must have known that they often sneak to eat chicken without them, or my heart, or even mood.

However, dogs think differently, except for dogs like Philip, who doesn’t want to stay around me when I break wind. I often use fart to send him away if I want to eat and he is snooping around for more.
While, dogs may not nip or growl at us when we fart around them, I have heard people say their dogs growled at them. Dogs react differently to things like fart, which makes it hard to understand such behavior. Here is a few of the things that can happen when you fart around your Fido:

I don’t think that Philip runs from me when I break a silent wind, but when he hears the sound, it scares him and he runs. The fart sound can be scary to some dogs, especially if the sound comes loud.
Dogs that run from farts can cower or have their tail tuck between their legs. Sometimes, I feel the hair on Philip’s back of the neck raise and he avoids eye contact. Some dogs have their ears flatten and start licking their lips.
Curiosity
Dogs are natural detectives and want to investigate the source of farts, especially if they got caught unawares. Since their nose does the job of finding information, they start smelling you.
Finally, you don’t have to bother about your dog following you when you fart. Dogs would not take in your farts because of their specialized organ. However, they can react differently. While some may not pay you mind, others will leave you until the smell fades away.
